One of the first things I've noticed in high school is how much more people there are than in Mill Creek. Although I do think this is a good thing because it gives you more people to meet and be friends with. Cliques don't seem to be that big of a problem. Now that it's high school, most people seem to have become more independent and
mature, and reach out to new people. By independent, I mean that people don't only have to feel like they must fit in a group, but they can be themselves and hang out with whoever they want. Going into HS, I thought that there would be cliques between the Monticello Trails and Mill Creek people, but this isn't a problem and we all fit right in together. Although most people obviously choose to be friends with people who share similar interests and that are in extra-curriculars together, people who aren't friends or don't like each other for some reason could care less about starting drama. At Mill Valley, bullying hasn't seemed to be a problem for my friends and I. But if it ever happens to become a problem, it is not hard to reach out to an administrator and get help. Mill Valley has 6 minute passing periods- this gives you a little bit more time to talk to friends, which is good. Keeping yourself surrounded by good friends helps you get through the school day, and make it not seem so bad. Overall, being in a larger school filled with more people helps you meet new friends and feel less pressured to fit into a "clique".
